CHAIRMAN's MESSAGE
I am extremely elated to speak with the CA
students’ fraternity through this medium of
communication. I am thankful to my
colleagues in SIRC for my nomination to be
the Chairman of the Southern India
Chartered Accountants Students’
Association in its 67th year of formation
and for joining with the illustrious
predecessors to be part of student activities.
I am humbled and committed to offering my
guidance and service to the students of our
Southern Region.
Through this column, I offer my congratulations to the
Chairmen of Branches of the Students’ Association and wish
them an outstanding tenure of office in the service of students. I
also welcome the student members elected to the Managing
Committee of Students’ Associations and wish them the best in
their respective positions
I am happy to recall to the present generation of students that
the year 1957 was significant in the history of SICASA as during
this year ICAI brought into effect the existence of the Students’
Association and constituted Students’ Associations in five
Regional Councils. (Ref: Constitution of Students' Association –
No. 1-CA(1)/57 dated 27th March 1957 – Insertion of Chapter IVA after Regulation 42B and before Chapter V – Chapter IV-A
Students’ Association)
Shri S. Vaidyanath Aiyar, then President of ICAI inaugurated
the Chartered Accountants Students’ Association in Chennai in
December 1957. Since then SICASA has been rendering its
services in the cause and development of CA Students across
the Southern Region. It is pertinent to note that ever since SIRC
was formed in the year 1952 students’ activities and classes
were held under the direct supervision of members of SIRC
assigned to student-related activities.
I also recall and record that it is SICASA that received the Best
Students’ Association Award in the very first year of
introduction of an award for Students’ Association in the year
1999 and did a hat-trick for its performance by receiving the
award for the years 2000 (millennium year) and 2001. The
winning streak continues with SICASA being the recipient of an
award from ICAI for continuous four years in 2020, 2021, 2022,
and 2023. I am confident that with the robust Students’
Association functioning with the active involvement of
students and support from SIRC, SICASA would achieve “Fifer”
(consecutive five years) by receiving the award for 2024 also.
Swami Vivekananda said “Give me one hundred 'believing'
young men… I will transform India as the number one nation in
the entire world…” Belief, here, he meant “belief in oneself”.
21st Century belongs to “youth” and they have the will, energy,
and enthusiasm to make tremendous progress in the
educational, social, and economic progress of our country and
record their indelible mark across the globe.
As students of our noble profession, I call upon the CA
Students to equip their skill set to confidently and
convincingly approach their course, examination, and
professional career with verve and vivacity. I am sure the
younger generation of our profession will play a pivotal role
in the “ICAI VISION 2047”.
Dear Students - Trust in yourselves will transform your
mindset and approach to any challenges and you will be the
ultimate victor. One of the key factors for success in your
pursuit to become a successful Chartered Accountant is to
give a prime place for your articleship training. Please
concentrate on your articles, correlate them with your
theoretical studies, and adopt and adapt to technological
advancements.
Before I conclude this month’s interaction I join with my
colleagues in SIRC to wish all the students appearing for the
ensuing CA Intermediate and Final Examination the very best
performance.
With best wishes,
CA. MANDAVA SUNIL KUMAR
Chairman, SICASA
